New launch brings Starlink fleet to 2,441 spacecraft

(30 Apr 2022) Rocket: Falcon 9; Payload: Starlink 4-16 (53 satellites); Date: 29 April 2022, 1127 UTC; Launch site: Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, USA.

This was the sixth flight for the Falcon 9 first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched GPS III Space Vehicle 04, GPS III Space Vehicle 05, Inspiration4, Ax-1, and now two Starlink missions.

The satellites were deployed into a near-circular orbit at an average altitude of 310 km with an inclination of 53.2 degrees.

SpaceX has now launched 2,441 Starlink satellites to date, including spacecraft that were decommissioned or suffered failures. More than 2,100 of those satellites are in orbit and functioning as of Friday, according to a list maintained by Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist who tracks spaceflight activity.
