The satellite reportedly is, like other Hughes HS601-HP models such as PAS-5 and Galaxy VIII-i, experiencing some problems with its batteries. One of its 30 battery cells has been reported lost.
The malfunction may make it necessary to switch off some transponders for a short time during the eclipse periods in spring and autumn respectively.
